While we are still recovering from typhoon Ursula, the year has welcomed us with volcanic eruptions and a new virus. Philippines ranks third as the most disaster prone country in the world! Realizing these, great efforts are given to achieve the goal to capacitate each and every individual in calamities, emergencies, disaster preparedness and response. Training for students and in the Barangays are being facilitated by Philippine Red Cross Boracay-Malay Chapter for Free!
One of the activity being done by our Chapter to raise funds for its major programs and activities is the holding annually of the Million Volunteer Run. Not only is the Chapter able to raise funds from the Run but enables the Chapter to gather volunteers. The successful Million Volunteer Love Run on February 13, 2020, along the white sand beachfront of Nigi Nigi Nu Noos gathered more than 350 runners from all walks of life. Among the attendees and an early bird is no less than our Acting Mayor Fromy Bautista who is also the Honorary Chairman of our Boracay-Malay Chapter and later joined by Mr. Al Orolfo, Ground Commander of Boracay Task Force, employees from different hotels, students, MASA Ati kids, sport enthusiasts, members of the community and newly composed Board of Directors of the PRC local Chapter.
The hard working staff and the dedicated volunteers served as the marshals during the event. The Run was made more fun with the Zumba led by Ms.Glaiza Cabanal and more exciting with the gift certificates from our valued sponsors. Our heartfelt thank you for the support and cooperation of the donors : Henann Group of Resorts, Nigi Nigi Nu Noos, Mandala Spa and Villas, Altabriza, Island Photography Services and Aliana’s Spa. The event was on live coverage by PCTV while Boracay Sun and Yes the Best 911 extended their help on the promotional campaigns.
